Translating text with Translate
Translate is a standalone desktop tool for translating text you paste or type, separate from reading a book in the reader.

Overview
Translate is a screen for translating text you paste or type yourself, up to 1,500 characters at a time. It's separate from reading a translated book in the reader. Use it for a menu, a text message, an email, or any passage that didn't come from a book in your library.
Where to find it
Translate lives on desktop only. On mobile, opening it shows a message that Translate needs the desktop app instead of the translation tool itself. If you're on your phone and need to translate something, switch to your desktop app.
You'll also need an active Lexxio plan. Translate isn't available on the free tier.
Style and tone
Before you translate, you can choose a style: Faithful, Simple, or Advanced. Faithful sticks close to the original wording, Simple favors plain, easy phrasing, and Advanced leans into more sophisticated vocabulary and sentence structure.
For languages where it matters, you can also set a tone: Default, Formal, Casual, Academic, Business, Child-friendly, Story, Poetic, or Conversational. Pick the one that matches what you're actually translating, a business tone for a work email, a casual tone for a text to a friend.
Credits
Translating on this screen costs AI credits, based on how much text you translate. This works differently than book translations and dictionary lookups: those get cached, so looking up the same word or reading the same page twice doesn't cost you again. Translate doesn't cache results. Translating the same text twice costs credits both times, so it's worth copying down anything you'll want to reference again. History
Translate keeps a history of roughly your last 20 translations. You can search through it and delete entries you don't need. How much history Lexxio keeps is controlled by a separate setting, covered in the settings articles.
