Privacy Policy

Lexxio (“we,” “us”) built these products so you can read your way into a new language. This policy explains what data we collect on this website, in the Lexxio app, and in the Lexxio Lens browser extension, why we collect it, and the choices you have.

Information we collect

On this website

  • Waitlist email address. If you join the waitlist, we store the email you give us and use it to send you a confirmation and, later, a launch notification.
  • Standard server logs. Our hosting provider (Vercel) automatically logs request metadata such as IP address and user agent for security and abuse prevention. We don’t use this data for advertising.

We don’t run analytics or advertising trackers on this site, and we don’t use cookies beyond what’s strictly necessary to serve the page.

In the Lexxio app

  • Your library, reading progress, and vocabulary. This is stored locally on your device. We don’t upload your books, highlights, or notes to our servers.
  • Account information. If you create an account (for subscriptions or cross-device sync), we store your email and authentication details with our backend provider (Supabase).
  • Translation requests. When you use cloud translation or cloud read-aloud in the app, the relevant text is sent to our translation/text-to-speech provider to generate a result. We cache results to avoid sending the same text twice.
  • Payment information. Subscriptions and one-time purchases are processed by Stripe, Apple, or Google Play, depending on where you subscribe. We never see or store your card details.

In the Lexxio Lens browser extension

Lexxio Lens is a companion extension that lets you act on text you select while browsing. It works on-device by default and only contacts the services described below.

  • Saved words and settings. Words you save and your preferences (target language, level, chosen assistants) are stored locally in your browser. We don’t upload them to our servers.
  • Text you send to an AI assistant. When you send a selection to ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Copilot, or Groq, the extension sends your selected text along with the page title and URL to the assistant you chose. That assistant is a third party and handles the text under its own privacy policy, not this one. Lexxio Lens does not run its own AI servers and never sends this text to us.
  • Account sync. Lexxio Lens does not sync your saved words to any account yet. A future version may let you sign in with a Lexxio account to sync them across devices; if it does, we’ll update this policy to describe it before turning it on. Until then, your saved words stay on your device.
  • Dictionary lookups. When you look up a word, the extension may download an offline dictionary pack (hosted on GitHub) and, as a fallback, query the public Wiktionary API. The single word is sent to Wiktionary to fetch its definition.
  • Read-aloud runs on your device. The extension’s text-to-speech is a neural voice that runs entirely inside your browser. The text you read aloud is never sent to us or any third party. The first time you use a voice, its voice files are downloaded from a public model host (Hugging Face) and cached locally; only that download request is made, never your text.

How we use information

We use the data above to operate the waitlist, run your account and subscription, generate translations and audio you request, and keep the service secure and reliable. We only use the data each feature needs to do the thing you asked for. We do not sell your personal data, we do not transfer it to third parties except to provide the features described here, and we do not use it for advertising or any purpose unrelated to the feature you used.

Third parties we work with

Upstash (waitlist storage), Resend (transactional email), Supabase (accounts), Stripe, Apple, and Google Play (payments), and our translation/TTS providers process data strictly to provide the service on our behalf, under their own security and privacy commitments. The Lexxio Lens extension additionally downloads dictionary packs and read-aloud voice files from GitHub and Hugging Face, and looks words up via the public Wiktionary API. When you use Lexxio Lens to send a selection to ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Copilot, or Groq, that assistant receives the text directly and processes it under its own privacy policy, which you should review.

Data retention

We keep waitlist emails until launch or until you ask us to remove them. Account data is kept while your account is active and deleted within a reasonable period after you request account deletion.

Your rights

You can ask us to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data at any time through our contact form. If you joined the waitlist and want out, every email includes an unsubscribe link, or you can ask us the same way.

Children’s privacy

Lexxio is not directed at children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect personal data from them.

Changes to this policy

We’ll update this page if our practices change and update the date below. Material changes will be announced on this site or by email to registered users.
