Lexxio's plans and what each one includes

Overview

Lexxio is free to download, and free to use for your first 30 days: import your own EPUBs, listen with the neural voices, search public-domain titles from Project Gutenberg, and borrow a Lexxio Original, none of which needs a plan. After 30 days, neural voices and importing need a plan, while The Blue Door, the Original you chose, and Project Gutenberg downloads stay free. Three paid plans keep everything from the trial. Reader is for listening: it keeps the voices and adds listening tools, with no language study attached. Learn and Pro add AI translation, the reading tools built around it, and everything downstream of that.

What's in each plan

Free. For your first 30 days: import your own EPUBs and listen with the neural read-aloud voices. For good: search and download public-domain titles from Project Gutenberg, keep The Blue Door, and back up or restore your library. Without an account you can borrow one Lexxio Original; a free account raises that to two at a time. Some Originals need an account either way, because their text is delivered encrypted. What the free tier does not include is AI translation, or anything built on top of it. When the 30 days are up, neural voices and importing move to the paid plans.

Reader ($8.99/month, $6.99 for your first 24 months as an early access member). For listening to anything you read, in a language you already know. Everything in the free trial with no 30-day limit, plus: paste a link or snap a photo of a page and hear it, a different voice for each character in a story, a spoken recap when you come back to a book, cleaner read-aloud that skips page numbers and footnote marks, desktop and mobile sync, and up to 3 Lexxio Originals at once. Reader has no AI translation, dictionary, or courses beyond the free units.

Learn ($11.99/month, $9.99 for your first 24 months as an early access member). Everything in Reader, plus everything you need to read a real book in another language: AI translation for imported books, about 500 pages of translation a month, Side by Side read-aloud of the original and the translation, one language workspace, the built-in dictionary, sentence explanations, vocabulary previews, chapter reviews, conjugation tables, and the full Basics course and verb curriculum.

Pro ($16.99/month, $12.99 for your first 24 months as an early access member). Everything in Learn, plus up to 10 language workspaces and 6 Lexxio Originals at once, about 1,500 pages of translation a month, everything Lexxio Verbs does, Coach, and Talk.

Pro also includes Lexxio's Mandarin tools (pinyin, hanzi, stroke order, and tone practice), which currently make up the app's CJK support.

How the monthly translation works

A page is about 300 words, and the monthly amount pays for AI work: translating a book, re-translating a sentence, dictionary lookups, sentence explanations, follow-up questions, vocabulary previews, chapter review quizzes, and conjugation tables. Reading itself is unlimited, and so are flashcards, practice and listening to a book read aloud.

It resets at the start of each billing cycle. It doesn't roll over, so a light month doesn't bank anything for a heavier one. See How your monthly translation works for what makes a page cost more or less.

Signing up

Lexxio is in early access right now. Plans open through the waitlist at lexxio.ai/plans rather than instant checkout. Join with your email, and early-bird pricing locks in for your first 24 months once your account activates.

Every paid plan can be billed monthly or yearly. Yearly costs ten times the monthly price, so two months are free: $89.99 for Reader, $119.99 for Learn and $169.99 for Pro, or $69.99, $99.99 and $129.99 at early-bird prices. On a yearly plan, the 24 early-bird months are your first two yearly payments.

You can cancel any time from the billing portal. Cancelling stops the next renewal, and you keep your plan until the end of the month or year you already paid for. Payments already made aren't refunded, including the unused months of a yearly plan.
