Reading

Side by side, or hidden

Read the translation aligned sentence by sentence, or fade the original out and hover to bring it back. The fade amount, its colour, and the blur depth are all yours to set.

Look up without leaving

Double-click any word for a definition, or ask for an explanation of a whole sentence. If the answer is not enough, ask a follow-up.

Heard, not just read

Neural narration in a natural voice, with per-language voices across three engines and downloadable voice packs.

Zen mode

Distraction-free reading. Everything but the book gets out of the way, until nothing is left on screen except you and the text.

Your library

Import your own EPUBs, or search and download books that are already in the public domain. Cards, bookshelf, or table.

Pitched at your level

A short placement quiz sets your CEFR level at the start, and the translation and explanations follow it. Skip it and pick your own level instead, or change it whenever the book you are on feels too easy or too hard.

Practice

The words you read become the words you know.

Spaced repetition

Words you save while reading come back as flashcards. Focus a session on fresh saves, flagged words, rusty ones, or the ones you keep getting wrong.

Anki export

Already have a system? Take your vocabulary with you.

Conjugation drills

Type the answer rather than pick it. Accent-tolerant, scoped by level, tense, or the specific verbs you flagged.

Offline dictionaries

Downloadable dictionary packs in Spanish, French, Portuguese, Italian, and Romanian, plus Words of the Day and your lookup history.

Chapter checks

A vocabulary preview before a chapter, a review quiz after it, and a match-the-word game. Set the score you need to pass.

Verb lessons built in

A guided curriculum that explains a tense before it drills you on it, reads the lesson aloud, and rewrites the explanation in plainer words when it has not landed.

Built with dyslexic readers in mind

Two of the ten reader fonts, OpenDyslexic and Atkinson Hyperlegible, were drawn specifically to stop similar letters being mistaken for one another. Put either against a bigger size, looser line height, and a softer background tint, and read for an hour without the page fighting you.

Pick every voice

Choose a different voice for every language, from several built-in voice engines or the ones already on your computer. Download, test, and set the volume.

Steer the translation

Free-text instructions that shape how your books get translated. Practise vosotros, or the Italian formal Lei.

And for the polyglots

Up to ten languages on the Reader plan and above, each with its own library, level, voices, and settings. Carry two at once without them bleeding into each other, or give everyone in the house their own: Spanish for one, French for another.
