What are Lexxio Originals?
Lexxio Originals are short stories Lexxio writes and grades itself, free to read but limited by a checkout system.

Overview
Lexxio Originals are short fiction written and published by Lexxio itself, not translated from an outside source. Each title is graded across reading levels, from Simple up through Faithful, so you can read the same story at whatever level fits you right now. Not every title reaches every level. A title's page shows exactly which levels it has.
Reading an Original costs nothing, at any level, forever. The only thing that's limited is how many you can have on your shelf at once.
The checkout limit
Adding a title to your shelf is called "checking it out." It prepares every level the title has in your target language, and it doesn't spend AI credits.
You can only have a certain number of Originals checked out at the same time. How many depends on your plan:
- Signed in with no active plan: 1
- Reader: 3
- Pro: 6
If you're at your limit and try to add another title, Lexxio will ask you to check in a book first to make room. See Checking in and removing a book for how that works.
The Blue Door is the exception
One title, "The Blue Door," is bundled with the app and never counts against your checkout limit. Add it, keep it, read it, it doesn't touch your shelf count. It's automatically added to your shelf whenever you create a new language workspace, so it's already there the first time you open a language, no need to go find it. It's also the one Original available in the widest range of languages, so it's a good first stop if your language is still filling out its catalog.
You need to be signed in to add most titles
Adding any Original other than The Blue Door requires being signed in. If you try while signed out, Lexxio doesn't currently show a "please sign in first" message, it just shows a generic error. Sign in before you try to add anything beyond The Blue Door, and you'll avoid running into this.
If a title isn't in your language yet
Not every Original exists in every language yet. A title with no version in your current language still shows up in the catalog, just dimmed and marked as not yet available in that language. Nothing to fix on your end, that title just hasn't been translated into your target language yet.
