What Factory Reset does

Overview

Factory Reset is a hidden option for wiping Lexxio back to a fresh install: your local library, saved words, settings, and any stored API keys are all deleted. It's meant for testing and troubleshooting, but it's easy to trigger by accident, so it's worth knowing what it does before you go looking for it.

How to trigger it

• Desktop: press Cmd+D (Mac) or Ctrl+D (Windows).
• Mobile: tap the app version number seven times, either in the navigation drawer or under Settings → About.

Either one opens a dialog with the reset options.

This is destructive. Factory Reset deletes your local books, saved vocabulary, and settings. There's no undo, and nothing is recoverable from the app itself afterward.

Getting your data back

• If your reading progress and saved words were synced to your account (this happens automatically while you're signed in), signing back in after a reset restores them.
• Books you imported yourself are not backed up to Lexxio's servers and will need to be imported again from your original files.
• Lexxio Originals you'd added to your shelf can be added again from the library at no cost.

Tips

• The reset dialog offers a "keep signed in" option, which wipes local data but leaves your account connected, so the next sync pulls your progress back down automatically.
• If you only meant to test something and hit this by accident, sign in again right away. The longer the app sits signed out, the more likely you are to forget which account to use.
