Looking up a word while you read
Double-click (or long-press on mobile) any word in the translated text to open a lookup popup without leaving the page.

Overview
You don't have to leave the page to check what a word means. Double-click it on desktop, or long-press it on mobile, and a lookup popup opens right there in the reader.
How to open it
Desktop: double-click any word in the translated text.
Mobile: there's no double-click on a touch screen, so long-press the word instead. This opens a context menu with a "Translate word" option.
Either way, you land in the same popup.
Where the definition comes from
Lexxio checks a few sources, cheapest first:
- An offline dictionary, if you've downloaded one for that language.
- Your own lookup history. If you've looked up this word before, the cached result comes back instantly.
- Wiktionary, a free lookup, if neither of the above has an answer.
None of these cost a credit. If you want more than a dictionary entry, tap "Look up with AI" in the popup, and Lexxio sends the word (with its sentence for context) to the AI and spends a credit. This button is desktop only, it doesn't appear on mobile. For how credits work, see How AI credits work.
Inflected words
If the word you tapped is a conjugated or inflected form, like a verb in past tense, the popup shows you the root, dictionary form of the word. Click that root to re-run the lookup on it directly.
For languages with verb curriculum support, if the word matches a conjugated verb form, the popup also tells you which tense and person it is, with a "Practice this" button that takes you straight into practicing that form.
Saving the word
There's a save button right in the popup. Tap it to add the word to your study list. For what happens after that, see Saving words while you read.
