How your progress syncs across devices

Signed-in devices sync your reading progress and vocabulary automatically in the background, with nothing to trigger yourself.

Overview

When you're signed into Lexxio, your progress syncs automatically across every device you're signed into. There's nothing to turn on and nothing to trigger. It just happens.

What syncs

  • Reading progress
  • Saved and study words
  • Achievements
  • Streaks
  • A handful of other progress-related data

Read a chapter on your phone, and your desktop app picks up where you left off. Save a word on desktop, and it's there in your review list on mobile.

When it happens

Sync runs in the background at several points:

  • When the app launches
  • When the app regains focus
  • When your device comes back online
  • Periodically while the app is open

You won't see a sync status indicator or a "sync now" button anywhere in the app. That's intentional. It's designed to stay out of your way rather than something you manage.

What doesn't sync

Your general app settings are not part of this. Settings live on each device separately, so changing your theme or reading level on desktop won't change it on your phone. Only the progress and vocabulary-related data listed above syncs.

This is not the same as book sync

Syncing your progress is automatic and requires nothing from you. Getting your actual book files onto your phone is a different, manual feature. See Getting books onto your phone for how that works.

If you ever wipe the app with a factory reset, signing back in restores everything covered here. See What Factory Reset does for details.
