How AI credits work

Overview

A credit is what Lexxio spends whenever it asks an AI model to do something on your behalf. Most of what you do in the app, including reading, doesn't touch your credit balance at all.

What spends a credit

• Translating a book's text
• Re-translating a sentence
• Dictionary lookups, but only the AI-powered kind. Free offline and Wiktionary lookups don't cost anything.
• Sentence explanations
• Follow-up questions
• Vocabulary previews
• Chapter review quizzes
• Using the standalone Translate tool
• Conjugation table generation

What's free

Reading itself never costs a credit, no matter how much you read. Listening to a book read aloud with a regular voice is also free.

HD narration, the premium AI narration feature, does not spend credits either. It's easy to assume it draws from the same pool since it's AI generated, but it's billed separately and gated purely by your plan tier. See What is HD narration? for how that works.

Checking your balance

Your current balance shows in the credits pill in the app's nav. For a full breakdown, including what you've spent credits on, open the Plan screen.

The monthly reset

Credits reset at the start of each billing cycle and don't roll over. If you barely use the app one month, that unused balance doesn't carry into the next one.

Right now, your plan's monthly allotment is the only source of credits. There's no separate one-time top-up purchase available. If you're running low, see Lexxio's plans, credits, and what each one includes for what each plan includes.
